Worcester Bosch Award

ACCOLADE FOR PLUMBERS AFTER GOOD BOILER JOB by MALCOLM TUCKER
11:00 - 22 March 2005
HEATING firm AM Hancock and Son has won an award for the way it approached a recent contract.
The Timsbury-based plumbing and heating engineering company has been given an Environment 2010 award from appliance manufacturer Worcester Bosch, after it installed a new boiler in a listed building in Bath.
The business was set up in 1972 by Alan Hancock and his son Paul.
Although Alan has now retired, the family connection remains with his two grandsons, Lee Symes and Ben Hancock, assisting Paul.
Worcester Bosch makes an installation award each month and, at the end of the year, an overall winner is announced at a gala awards luncheon.
Neil Schofield, who manages the awards scheme, said: "Paul was a clear winner.
"He replaced a large and inefficient conventional boiler with two Worcester Bosch boilers in a modular arrangement.
"He also replaced 24 radiators with modern convectors and thermostatic radiator valves to provide a more efficient and economical system."
Paul said: "We are naturally delighted to have our work recognised by a well respected national company such as Worcester Bosch.
"The system we installed gives out far less emissions than the original one and is ideal for a heritage city such as Bath. Our clients have also discovered a big saving in their fuel bill."
Paul, who once played football for Bath City, has won a £500 voucher for a National Trust cottage holiday and a year's family membership of the trust.
